Bridge Street Conservation Area

Bridge StreetBridge Street Conservation Area

The regeneration of Bridge Street Conservation Area is one of the first projects to come out of the Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP). Through the process of developing the NDP it was found out that the area had been identified as at-risk by Historic England due to ‘severe dilapidation and loss of detailing.’

The Parish Council has now set up a Working Group which is open to residents and local organisations to lead on the project to improve the area.

The first stage has been to consult with the public including residents, businesses, organisations and visitors to find out their views of the Conservation Area and how they would like to see it regenerated. The results from this are available in the Bridge Street Consultation Report. From this consultation, a vision for the area has been created and the Project Plan List (Feb 2018 version) will be further developed over the coming months.

Vision

Bridge Street Conservation Area will be a vibrant, well maintained place to live, work, and visit. Its historic character, architectural heritage and waterway will be celebrated, preserved and enhanced, providing an enjoyable public space that current and future generations are proud of.

Funding is now being sought for a Landscape Architect to  develop a visual Masterplan and detailed drawings of the area. This will guide the regeneration ensuring a coherent scheme.

If you would like to be involved, or have any ideas, please contact the Assistant Parish Clerk – assistant@saxilbyparishcouncil.co.uk or on 01522 703912.
